The Challenge
This MSP first approached us more than 15 years ago when they were a small team of just two employees but had ambitious plans to grow. They were using a generic HR helpline provided by their bank but wanted something more personal, responsive and tailored—support from someone who truly understood their business.

At the outset, the client had identified a new hire and needed support creating a compliant contract and core HR policies.
As the business grew, we developed a fully branded and bespoke employee handbook covering essential HR policies, plus additional information about the company’s culture and values.
We ensure they remain compliant by keeping policies updated ahead of changes in employment law.
2. HR System & Process Automation
Initially, holidays and employee information were tracked on a spreadsheet—a workable solution for a very small team.
As numbers grew, we helped set up an HR system to automate routine tasks and securely store employee data. Over time we have supported the implementation of additional modules, including online learning, so their system evolves alongside their needs.
3. Recruitment Support
Growing businesses often struggle to find the right people—both in terms of time and expertise.
We have supported this client throughout their growth journey by:
- Creating job descriptions and adverts
- Screening CVs
- Leading interviews
- Managing the offer process
This approach has helped them attract strong talent without the cost of using recruitment agencies.
4. Fractional HR Partner Support
Initially, we worked with them on an ad‑hoc basis, providing HR advice, helping them navigate employee relations issues and supporting areas such as salary reviews and disciplinaries.
More recently, they moved to a fractional onsite HR partnership. One of our HR Consultants now works from their office one day a week, supported by the wider GFHR team outside those hours.
The Managing Director has described this support as a huge relief—he no longer feels buried in HR work and benefits from a full HR team without the cost of a full‑time hire.
